Narinder Kaur Bharaj’s rise in Punjab politics has been one of the more striking Aam Aadmi Party success stories. From being the only polling booth agent for Bhagwant Mann in her village during the 2014 campaign to later becoming district youth president and spokesperson, she steadily climbed the party ranks through organisation work rather than family legacy. In 2022, despite internal resistance over her candidature, she was fielded from Sangrur and went on to defeat heavyweight rivals with a record margin, turning herself into one of AAP’s young women faces in Punjab. As 2027 approaches, the bigger question is whether Narinder Kaur Bharaj remains only a first-term MLA success story, or is being prepared for a larger leadership role within the party. Can she hold Sangrur strongly again, or could AAP see her as more than just a constituency leader now ?
