Makhan Singh Lalka has seen a turbulent political journey in Nabha. After serving Shiromani Akali Dal for years as constituency incharge, he quit the party over being denied tickets in 2012 and 2017 despite maintaining a strong local presence. He later rejoined the Shiromani Akali Dal in 2023, and recent public trust shown by Sukhbir Singh Badal in Nabha has again pushed him into focus.
