ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਇਹ ਦਲੀਲ ਦੇ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਬੀ ਚਲ ਰਹੀ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ “ਮਨਮਾਨੀ” ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਸਬੂਤ ‘ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ। ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਸਮਾਜਕ ਸੁਧਾਰ, ਨਸ਼ਾ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਪਛਾਣ ‘ਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਪਿਛੋਕੜ ‘ਚ ਇੱਕ ਨਵਾਂ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਸਵਾਲ ਚੁੱਪਚਾਪ ਉੱਭਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ: ਜੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਿਰਾਸਤ 2027 ਤੱਕ ਜਾਰੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ‘ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਅਸਰ ਪਵੇਗਾ, ਖ਼ਾਸਕਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਈ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਪੰਥਕ ਵੋਟ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਦੇਖ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਜਗਾਇਆ ਸੀ ?
