Baljinder Kaur entered politics through the 2011 anti-corruption movement and formally joined AAP in 2012. She rose quickly in the party, but her journey has not been smooth at every step. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Bathinda, she lost the race. Yet at the assembly level, the story changed. She won from Talwandi Sabo in 2017 and repeated the win in 2022, becoming a two-time MLA during AAP’s strongest phase in Punjab. So the real question heading into 2027 is, do her back-to-back assembly wins reflect strong personal support on the ground or were they mainly the result of AAP’s wave and a divided opposition ?

ਬਲਜਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ 2011 ਦੇ ਭ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਚਾਰ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਅੰਦੋਲਨ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਦਮ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ 2012 ਵਿੱਚ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ। ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਭਾਰ ਤੇਜ਼ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਹਰ ਪੜਾਅ ‘ਤੇ ਆਸਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਿਹਾ। 2019 ਦੀ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਠਿੰਡਾ ਤੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ। ਪਰ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਤਸਵੀਰ ਬਦਲ ਗਈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਸਾਬੋ ਤੋਂ 2017 ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿੱਤ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ 2022 ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੜ ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਦੋ ਵਾਰ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਬਣੇ। ਇਹ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਦੌਰ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ। ਤਾਂ 2027 ਵੱਲ ਵੱਧਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਸਲੀ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ, ਕੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਦੋ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਜਿੱਤਾਂ ਜ਼ਮੀਨੀ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਕੜ ਦਿਖਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਇਹ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਵੰਡੇ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਦਾ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਸੀ ?
