In Nihal Singh Wala, Congress candidate Bhupinder Singh Sahoke got 27,172 votes (19.4%) in 2022 and finished third, far behind AAP and even behind the Akalis. For Congress, this was a sharp fall in a rural seat. This raises a blatant question, did Bhupinder Singh Sahoke lose mainly because Congress is weak on the ground or did voters clearly move away from the party itself ? And looking at 2027, does this vote share give him something to build on or does it show how hard it will be for Congress to come back here ?

ਸੁਖਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਕਾਕਾ ਲੋਹਗੜ੍ਹ 2022 ਵਿੱਚ ਧਰਮਕੋਟ ਤੋਂ 35,406 ਵੋਟਾਂ (24.9%) ਨਾਲ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੰਬਰ ‘ਤੇ ਰਹੇ। ’ਆਪ’ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉਹ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਰਹੇ, ਜਦਕਿ ਅਕਾਲੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੇ ਜਿਹੇ ਅੱਗੇ। ਅੰਕੜੇ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀ ਦਿਖਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ। ਸਵਾਲ ਸਾਫ਼ ਹੈ, ਕੀ ਕਾਕਾ ਲੋਹਗੜ੍ਹ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੀ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਲਹਿਰ ਨੇ ਰੋਕਿਆ ਜਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਦਾਨੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਦਲ ਸਕੇ ? ਅਤੇ 2027 ਨੇੜੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ, ਕੀ ਇਹ ਵੋਟ ਅਧਾਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਣ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਬਦਲਦੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਕੇਂਦਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੱਦ ਹੈ ?
