As Congress prepares for the 2026 Assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry, its alliance confusion is once again on full display. After repeated losses, the party needs allies to survive, yet struggles to trust them. Under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress appears stuck between fear and indecision. Instead of leading coalitions, it often seems to negotiate from weakness. The poking question is hard to avoid. Has Congress turned alliances into an excuse to hide its shrinking ground strength, rather than fixing its own organisation ?

ਜਦੋਂ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਅਸਾਮ, ਪੱਛਮੀ ਬੰਗਾਲ, ਤਮਿਲਨਾਡੂ, ਕੇਰਲ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਡੁਚੇਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ 2026 ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸਦੀ ਗਠਜੋੜ ਵਾਲੀ ਉਲਝਣ ਫਿਰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਹਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿਚਕ ਵੀ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਰਾਹੁਲ ਗਾਂਧੀ, ਸੋਨੀਆ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੱਲਿਕਾਰਜੁਨ ਖੜਗੇ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਡਰ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਚਿੱਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗਠਜੋੜ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਅਕਸਰ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਦਿਖਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸਿੱਧਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ, ਕੀ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਗਠਜੋੜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਘੱਟਦੀ ਜਮੀਨੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਲੁਕਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵਰਤ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੀ ਸੰਸਥਾਗਤ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰੀਆਂ ਸੁਧਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ?
