But today, Amarinder is in the BJP, largely absent from active politics due to health concerns, limited ground engagement, and a shrinking organisational footprint. At a time when both the BJP and the Congress are searching for energetic, election-ready faces ahead of 2027, the bigger question is whether the Captain still commands political weight or has gradually drifted from kingmaker to a legacy name in Punjab’s fast-changing power game. ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਆਗੂ ਭੂਪੇਸ਼ ਬਘੇਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਕੈਪਟਨ ਅਮਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਪਸ ਆਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਹਾਈਕਮਾਂਡ ਇਸ ’ਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਫਿਰ ਚਰਚਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਅਟਕਲਾਂ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਕਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਨੇਤਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਰਹੇ ਕੈਪਟਨ ਅੱਜ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਸਿਹਤ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ, ਘੱਟ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਸਰਗਰਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਜ਼ਮੀਨੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵਰਗੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੀ। ਜਦੋਂ 2027 ਚੋਣ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਂਗਰਸ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਕਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਤਦੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਕੈਪਟਨ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਹੌਲੀ-ਹੌਲੀ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਤਾਕਤ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਰਾਸਤੀ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕਾਤਮਕ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ ?
