With the Punjab Government rolling out the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme offering ₹10 Lakhs annual cover to every family, MLAs and ministers continue to retain access to unlimited medical reimbursement under the old Assembly rules. While the scheme promises universal coverage for citizens, elected representatives now effectively have multiple options for their medical expenses. If the Government says one health cover is enough for every family in Punjab, why are MLAs and ministers still allowed unlimited medical reimbursement under a separate system ? Is this welfare security for public representatives or a case of one rule for leaders and another for the public ?

Suggestions - SLAH

A) Public representatives need broader medical protection due to the nature of their responsibilities.

B) Retaining unlimited reimbursement creates an unequal system compared to citizens’ fixed cover.

C) Leaders should also shift fully to the same ₹10 Lakhs scheme to set an example.

D) The real issue is whether welfare policies are being designed equally for the public and policymakers.

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ‘ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸਿਹਤ ਯੋਜਨਾ’ ਤਹਿਤ ਹਰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਨਾ ₹10 ਲੱਖ ਦਾ ਸਿਹਤ ਬੀਮਾ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਵਿਧਾਇਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਹੇਠ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੱਦ ਦੇ ਸਿਹਤ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਖਰਚ ਦੀ ਸਹੂਲਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਸੀਮਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਨਿਧੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕਿਉਂ ? ਕੀ ਇਹ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਨੇਤਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਵੱਖਰੇ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਥਾ ?
