ਅਦਾਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਬਣੇ ਵਿਜੈ ਨੇ ਤਾਮਿਲਨਾਡੂ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਭਲਾਈ ਪੈਕੇਜ ਐਲਾਨਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਘਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਮੁਖੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਹਰ ਮਹੀਨੇ ₹2,500, ਵਿਆਹ ਅਤੇ ਨਵਜੰਮੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਤੋਹਫ਼ੇ, ਮੁਫ਼ਤ ਐਲ.ਪੀ.ਜੀ. ਸਿਲੰਡਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਲਾਭਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਅਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਡੀ.ਐਮ.ਕੇ. ਅਤੇ ਏ.ਆਈ.ਏ.ਡੀ.ਐਮ.ਕੇ. ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਸਕੀਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਿਕਲਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਵਿਜੈ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ “ਫ੍ਰੀਬੀ” ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਦੀ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਕਰ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਹ ਸਵਾਲ ਉੱਠਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਬਦਲਾਅ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਹਕੀਕਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਢਲਣਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੁਖ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਰੋਧਾਭਾਸ।
