Tirath Singh Mahla has been the Shiromani Akali Dal candidate from Bagha Purana for the last two Assembly elections, but the seat has remained out of the party’s hands since its last victory in 2012. Despite repeated trust from the leadership, Mahla has so far been unable to convert candidature into success. Now, with Sukhbir Singh Badal once again backing him, the pressure is higher than ever. The real question heading toward 2027 is whether Mahla can finally break the losing run and bring Bagha Purana back to Akali Dal, or whether repeated chances without results will continue to haunt the party.
