Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently urged Indians to reduce fuel consumption, avoid unnecessary travel, postpone luxury spending, and even revive work-from-home habits in the name of economic caution during global tensions. But at the same time, his own schedule continued to feature nonstop flights, helicopter travel, temple events, BJP rallies, massive roadshows, and large political gatherings across multiple states within days. The contrast has now triggered a larger debate across India should national leaders asking citizens to embrace austerity also visibly practise the same restraint themselves, or is high-profile political mobilisation now considered too important to slow down even during economic pressure ?

ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਮੋਦੀ ਨੇ ਹਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਵਿਆਪੀ ਤਣਾਅ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਦਬਾਅ ਦਾ ਹਵਾਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਲਣ ਦੀ ਖਪਤ ਘਟਾਉਣ, ਗੈਰ-ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਯਾਤਰਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ, ਸ਼ੌਕੀਨ ਖਰਚੇ ਟਾਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਪਰ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਉਡਾਣਾਂ, ਹੈਲੀਕਾਪਟਰ ਯਾਤਰਾਵਾਂ, ਮੰਦਰ ਸਮਾਗਮਾਂ, ਭਾਜਪਾ ਰੈਲੀਆਂ, ਵੱਡੇ ਰੋਡਸ਼ੋਅ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰੀ ਭੀੜ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਸਭਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ। ਹੁਣ ਇਸ ਵਿਰੋਧਾਭਾਸ ਨੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਛੇੜ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ: ਕੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਦਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਬੱਚਤ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਨੇਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਦ ਵੀ ਉਹੀ ਉਦਾਹਰਨ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਅੱਜ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਚ-ਪ੍ਰੋਫਾਈਲ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਲਾਮਬੰਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਦਬਾਅ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵੀ ਘਟਾਉਣਾ ਸੰਭਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ?
