ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਸਤਲੁਜ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅੱਜ ਲਗਭਗ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਪਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਾਲੜਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ 'ਤੇ ਇਕਜੁੱਟ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਰਿਲੀਜ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਜਾਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ? ਜਦੋਂ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਾਲੜਾ ਸੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਦੀ ਲੜਾਈ ਲੜ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਲੜਾਈ ਦੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪੱਧਰਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਚੁਕਾਉਣੀ ਪੈ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਇਹ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਸੀ ? ਕੀ ਇਕ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਿਲਮ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੋਖਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸੱਚ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਖੜ੍ਹਨਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਹਿੰਮਤ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ? ਜੇ ਅੱਜ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਜਸਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਾਲੜਾ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ 'ਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਕ ਜਤਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੌਣ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ ?
