Nirmala Sitharaman has rejected the Aam Aadmi Party Government’s claim that Punjab is being denied its entitled funds, saying payments are released on time. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has disputed the Centre’s position and listed several meetings where the RDF issue was raised. But here’s the real question: with both sides blaming each other over Punjab’s funds, is the Centre–Punjab funding fight becoming another political shield before the 2027 election, where every financial problem can simply be pushed onto the other side ?

ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਸੀਤਾਰਮਨ ਨੇ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਦਾਅਵੇ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੇ ਹੱਕ ਦੇ ਫੰਡ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਿਰ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਤ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਹਰਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੀਮਾ ਨੇ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਦਾਅਵੇ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਆਰ.ਡੀ.ਐੱਫ. ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ 'ਤੇ ਕਈ ਮੀਟਿੰਗਾਂ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਅਸਲ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ: ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਫੰਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਬਾ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਇਕ-ਦੂਜੇ 'ਤੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਪਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਕੀ 2027 ਦੀਆਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇਹ ਫੰਡ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਇਕ ਹੋਰ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਢਾਲ ਬਣਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਹਰ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਦਾ ਠੀਕਰਾ ਦੂਜੇ ਪੱਖ ਸਿਰ ਭੰਨਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ?
