The BJP was part of the SAD-led Punjab Government from 2007 to 2017. BJP Punjab President Kewal Singh Dhillon now says the party was only a junior alliance partner and did not control the Chief Minister’s office or major decisions. But if BJP now wants to make drugs a major 2027 campaign issue, the uncomfortable question is: Can the BJP demand answers from today’s Government without fully answering questions about its own decade as part of the previous Government ?

B) Being the junior partner does not remove the need to explain what BJP did on drugs.

C) BJP should put its past record and its 2027 drug plan before voters.

ਭਾਜਪਾ 2007 ਤੋਂ 2017 ਤੱਕ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਈਵਾਲ ਸੀ। ਹੁਣ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਕੇਵਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਢਿੱਲੋਂ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਜੂਨੀਅਰ ਭਾਈਵਾਲ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦਫ਼ਤਰ ਜਾਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਫੈਸਲਿਆਂ ’ਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਕੰਟਰੋਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਜੇ ਭਾਜਪਾ 2027 ਵਿੱਚ ਨਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਚੋਣ ਮੁੱਦਾ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਅਸਹਿਜ ਸਵਾਲ ਇਹ ਹੈ: ਕੀ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਅੱਜ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਜਵਾਬ ਮੰਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪਿਛਲੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਜਵਾਬ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ ?
