With the Election Commission yet to decide on the registration of Akali Dal ‘Waris Punjab De’ as a political party, the organisation is already preparing for the 2027 Punjab elections and expanding its network across the state. Its leaders have indicated that candidates could contest as Independents if registration is not granted, raising a bigger political question about how far the organisation can build a common identity without official party status. If registration remains pending or is denied, could this limit its ability to challenge the Shiromani Akali Dal for political space in Punjab ?

ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਅਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ‘ਵਾਰਿਸ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ’ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਰਜਿਸਟ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਸੰਗਠਨ 2027 ਦੀਆਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੰਗਠਨਾਤਮਕ ਆਧਾਰ ਵਧਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਸੰਗਠਨ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਰਜਿਸਟ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਉਮੀਦਵਾਰਾਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਚੋਣ ਲੜ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਵੱਡਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਉਠਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਤ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਜਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਵਜੂਦ ਸੰਗਠਨ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰ ਸਕੇਗਾ। ਜੇ ਰਜਿਸਟ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਲਟਕਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ, ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਆਧਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣੌਤੀ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਸੀਮਤ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ?
