With reports suggesting that BJP–Shiromani Akali Dal alliance talks are nearing a deal, the big question is who would lead Punjab if the partnership returns to power. If Sukhbir Singh Badal expects to reclaim the chief minister’s post, BJP leaders with their own CM ambitions may have to rethink their plans. Seat-sharing talks could be about more than numbers, they may also shape who gets the top chair. If the BJP agrees to contest fewer seats and backs a renewed alliance, would its leaders be giving up their own CM ambitions to make room for Sukhbir Badal or is the top post still the biggest unresolved bargain ?

ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਭਾਜਪਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਅਕਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਗੱਠਜੋੜ ਦੀ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਸਮਝੌਤੇ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਠਜੋੜ ਮੁੜ ਸੱਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੌਣ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਜੇ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਦਲ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਅਹੁਦੇ ਲਈ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਮੁੜ ਸੋਚਣਾ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਬਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੀਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਦਾ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੀ ਕੁਰਸੀ ਤੈਅ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਲ ਵੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਘੱਟ ਸੀਟਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਚੋਣ ਲੜਨ ਅਤੇ ਗੱਠਜੋੜ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਸੁਖਬੀਰ ਬਾਦਲ ਲਈ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਬਣਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਣਗੇ ਜਾਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੀ ਕੁਰਸੀ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਅਣਸੁਲਝਿਆ ਸੌਦਾ ਬਣੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ ?
