The possible Akali Dal–BJP reunion is getting more serious, with talks reportedly moving towards seat sharing. The numbers are what make this interesting: in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, the BJP and Akali Dal together polled around 32% of Punjab’s vote when their separate vote shares are combined. But can adding those numbers on paper actually translate into seats on the ground in 2027 ? Is the Akali Dal–BJP alliance looking stronger on paper than it may be on the ground ?
