The BJP often promotes its “double-engine government” model, claiming that having the same party in power at the Centre and in a state speeds up development. But Punjab has its own political identity, strong regional concerns and a history of strained Centre-state relations. Issues such as farmers’ demands, the role of the state in decision-making and the BJP’s limited regional base raise questions about whether this model can gain public trust in Punjab. Can the BJP’s double-engine formula work in Punjab or could its centralised approach become its biggest roadblock ?

ਭਾਜਪਾ ਅਕਸਰ ਆਪਣੇ 'ਡਬਲ ਇੰਜਣ ਸਰਕਾਰ' ਮਾਡਲ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਾਅਵਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕੋ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਦੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਪਛਾਣ, ਖੇਤਰੀ ਚਿੰਤਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੇਂਦਰ-ਸੂਬਾ ਸਬੰਧਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਣਾਅ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੰਗਾਂ, ਫੈਸਲੇ ਲੈਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦਾ ਸੀਮਤ ਜਨਤਕ ਆਧਾਰ ਵਰਗੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ ਸਵਾਲ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਮਾਡਲ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਜਿੱਤ ਸਕੇਗਾ। ਕੀ ਭਾਜਪਾ ਦਾ ਡਬਲ ਇੰਜਣ ਮਾਡਲ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਸਕੇਗਾ ਜਾਂ ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਸੱਤਾ ਦਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ?
